Cynthia Linnet Lau is Miss Earth Cuba 2021

On June 27, 2021, BNC Belleza Nacional Cuba appointed Cynthia Linnet Lau actress and model to represent Cuba at the 20th anniversary of Miss Earth to be held in the Philippines in November or December of this year. The crowing ceremony took place at Cuba Ocho Little Havana in Miami, Florida where Cynthia was crowned by Miss Earth Cuba 2007, Ariana Barouk. Miss Earth is an annual international environmental-themed beauty pageant competition promoting environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility. The contest is the third largest beauty pageant in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals. Miss Earth is part of the big 5 grand slam pageants ranked next to Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss World, and Miss Universe.

Cynthia Linnet Lau is a twenty-five-year-old with Chinese, Spanish, and Cuban roots. Originally born in Holguin, Cuba she migrated with her family to the United States at the age of five. Cynthia is a recent graduate with a masters’ degree in Business Administration with specialization in Business Intelligence and Analytics from Nova Southeastern University. Resilient, compassionate, and survivor would be the three words that define her. She is a firm believer of “if a problem arises, come up with a solution, and run with it”.

Cynthia lives by this mantra since the age of 13 when she was diagnosed with a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor and her life would never be the same. The word CANCER is one of the scariest things for someone to hear, and so when it knocks on your door you cry, hope, struggle but above all else look for the cure. From that moment on she lives day by day to her upmost potential because the path we choose to embark on is the one that we will work. She works avidly with the Make a Wish Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the American Cancer Society: Cancer Action Network has offered opportunities beyond her wildest dreams. Cynthia’s role as an intern, volunteer, and now ambassador for these organizations has allowed her to go to Congress and speak to legislators on the importance of medical research funding and cancer prevention.

Cynthia’s favorite hobbies are ballroom dance, belly dance, acting, and playing piano. She has participated in national congresses and most recently danced with her belly dance team at the Miami Belly Dance Convention. Playing the piano for eight years taught has taught her discipline, and the true meaning of the saying “practice makes perfect.” On several occasions, you will also find her discovering new destinations around the world.

Cynthia is no stranger to pageantry. Previously, she represented Cuba at Miss Queen of the Continents 2016 held in Dominican Republic and Miss Intercontinental 2018 held in Manila, Philippines. She will represent Cuba again at the 20th edition of Miss Earth this December.
